So I’m at the airport, ready to board a plane back home. And I should probably be thinking about some wonderfully wise words to sum up my American adventure. But I can’t, because today I met Veronica at the Exploratorium – and she is blinkin’ AWESOME!!!! It was a very brief chat but enough to get an insight into the work and thinking she has done and the action she is taking to broaden the relationships between centre and audiences, specifically Latino audiences here. I could probably have chatted to her for much longer, but she has a mission to fulfill. So I am fired up, thinking about science centres that are an asset to the community, that would be missed if they closed, that invite ALL of their communities in to make amazing content that reflects the place it is shared. But those sorts of close relationships don’t happen over night, we need to get to know our cities, towns or districts first. From those early conversations will bloom great things.
Oh crikey, that’s my flight boarding.
I will leave you with some lovely images of SF, it’s been a little rocky at times, but the people are some of the friendliest in the world and will get you through whatever transport crisis you’re having. Then tell you that they never use it – ha ha ha!
